New Delhi . In India, there will now be a security check not only of cars, but also trucks and heavy vehicles. The central government is soon to implement a new security rating system on the lines of India NCAP, which will check the structure and safety standards of trucks and heavy commercial vehicles. It aims to strengthen road safety and encourage quality in the automobile industry. This important initiative was announced by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari during a workshop, which was organized by the Global NCAP and Road Traffic Education Institute. Gadkari said that this rating system will motivate manufacturers to prepare better quality and safe vehicles.

He said that safety standards are also going on for light vehicles like electric rickshaws. He said that improving the safety of e-rickshaws will increase the quality of products as well as increase employment opportunities. Pointing to road accidents, Gadkari said that about 4.8 lakh road accidents occur in India every year, in which about 1.8 lakh people lose their lives. The government's main focus in this direction is to decide road safety, high quality vehicles and better infrastructure.
He revealed that a new law is being prepared to regulate the working hours of truck drivers. He said that currently truck drivers work for 13–14 hours a day, which is very difficult and unwell.

Along with this, there is also a plan to establish 32 modern driving training institutes across the country and AC has been made mandatory in the driver of trucks. Road safety education has been added from class 1 to 12 in school courses under long -term security policy. Emeritus David Ward, President of Global NCAP, praised India's progress in this direction, saying that now when more vehicles are joining the Tests of GNCAP and BNCAP, consumers are getting safe options. This is a major step towards the United Nations's 2030 Road Safety target.
