New Delhi: Tamil cinema icon and Padma Bhushan awardee Ajith Kumar has been discharged from a private hospital in Chennai after sustaining a minor leg injury during a chaotic fan gathering at the Chennai airport.
The incident was said to have occurred on Tuesday (April 29) as the actor returned from New Delhi, where he had been honoured with the Padma Bhushan award by the President of India.
For those who do not know, a sea of frenzied fans had gathered to welcome the Good Bag Ugly actor at the airport. As the crowd surged in excitement, Ajith Kumar was reportedly mobbed, leading to the injury. According to sources cited by India Today, “Ajith Kumar sir suffered a small injury in his leg when he was mobbed by a huge crowd at the Chennai airport. Hence, he had to be admitted for physiotherapy. The actor is likely to be discharged this evening. There’s nothing to worry about his health.”
Following the incident, the Tamil star was rushed to Apollo Hospital in Chennai. There, he was examined thoroughly by a team of physiotherapists. By Wednesday evening, he was cleared by doctors for discharge, with a recommendation for rest and precautionary care over the coming weeks to ensure complete recovery.
Ajith Kumar, who is known across India for his blockbusters like Vidaamuyarchi and Tegreenhad been on his way home from a significant milestone in his career. His fans, though inadvertently causing the mishap, had gathered in celebration of his recent honour.
Currently, the actor was seen in the highly anticipated Good Bad Ugly, which featured an ensemble cast comprising Rahul dev, trisha Krishna, and Priya Prakash Varrier.
