Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings are set to face off in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2025 on Sunday in Ahmedabad, with a spot in the final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on the line. Chahar has been a new-ball option for MI alongside Trent Boult, but in his absence, Ashwani Kumar stepped in and delivered when needed. His unavailability may not hurt MI’s balance as much as Chahal’s absence affects PBKS.

On the other hand, there’s more confidence in Yuzvendra Chahal’s return for Punjab Kings. The leg-spinner, who has been out since May 18 due to a right wrist injury, took part in a full training session on Saturday. He bowled in the nets, did fielding drills, and wore protective strapping on his wrist. While no official update has been issued, reports that he is likely to be available for the crucial game.
Chahal’s comeback could be pivotal for PBKS, who were bowled out for just 101 in their previous outing. Earlier in the season, PBKS had suffered a against KKR, but Chahal’s four-wicket haul helped them defend a low total. His absence has clearly been a costly one, and the team will hope his return sparks a much-needed turnaround.
