It's officially holiday season, and travellers are beginning to pack their suitcases with their best outfits. But there's nothing worse than ironing your clothes at home, only to open your case at your dream destination to find them wrinkly.

Whether rolling, folding, using cubes, or using the bundle wrap method, travellers debate which is the best technique for more space and fewer creases. However, none of this matters unless you follow the correct packing order. According to travel experts at Skyscanner, ignoring a simple "anti-wrinkle" packing order in your suitcase is causing clothes to emerge creased and crumpled.

Here's how to pack your bags "like a pro", saving you from using an iron on holiday or worse, walking around in wrinkly clothes.

The expert warned to always place heavier items near the wheels to avoid causing wrinkles.

They said: "Put any heavy or bulky items (shampoo, shoes etc) in your case first and place them at the bottom near the wheels. It helps the weight distribution of the case and won't squish and wrinkle your clothes."

Shoes, coats, and towels are typically the heaviest items in a suitcase.

Placing them at the bottom helps create a flat, stable base, which reduces pressure on the clothing above and minimises wrinkling.

1. Roll clothes

The expert went on to share more packing tips for wrinkle-free clothes.

They added: "No one wants a pile of ironing on holiday. To save space and stop creasing, roll your clothes instead of folding, then place them in vacuum compression bags. Simply put your clothes in, seal the bag, then squeeze the air out."

2. Packing cubes

Another effective packing solution is using packing cubes or travel bags. These help organise your belongings, making it easier to find what you need upon arrival.

3. Place smaller items in shoes

The expert explained: "When it comes to packing, make use of every inch of suitcase space. Roll tops, underwear, socks and other small items, and stuff them into your shoes to make sure every possible space is filled."

Losing your valuable items is the biggest nightmare on holiday. The travel expert suggests that to avoid being robbed or misplacing your valuables, travellers should hide them in an empty suntan lotion container.

"Use empty lip balm containers to hide rolled-up notes. Consider travel insurance too," suggested the experts at Skyscanner.
