According to BBC, Aurangzeb spent three decades of his life in South India. Jadunath Sarkar, a historian of the Mughal ruler, has written in his book ‘The Short History of Aurangzeb’ that when Aurangzeb grew old, he became a victim of loneliness. Not only this, but all his companions had passed away. Apart from these, all the flatterers and jealous courtiers are seen in the court.
As Aurangzeb was getting old, his life was also going into darkness. Aurangzeb got a big shock when his family members died one by one. In the year 1702, his poetess daughter Zeb Un Nisa passed away and in the year 1704, his son Akbar II died in Iran.
In 1705, Aurangzeb’s daughter-in-law Jahanzeb Bano died in Gujarat, while in 1706 his daughter Mehr Un Nisa and son-in-law Izid Baksh also died in Delhi. Not only this, Gauhar Ara, the only survivor among Aurangzeb’s siblings, also could not survive. Aurangzeb’s sorrows did not end yet, some time before his death, grandson Buland Akhtar also said goodbye to the world. Even after this, two more of his grandsons died, but the courtiers did not want to give him this news so that he does not get shocked again.
