Sawan somvar 2025: The sacred month of Sawan is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it has special significance for Shiva devotees. Usually on Monday of Sawan, Shiva is considered the most auspicious for worship and fast. It is believed that by observing fast these days and worshiping Lord Shiva, unmarried girls get a worthy groom and married women get blessings of unbroken good fortune.

Sawan Shivaratri

Shivaratri of Sawan month, also known as monthly Shivaratri, is considered very important. It comes on Chaturdashi Tithi. On this day, Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati met. By offering water to Shivling on Sawan Shivaratri and chanting 'Om Namah Shivaya', the sufferings of life are removed and salvation is attained. It is also very fruitful to recite Shiva Chalisa or Shiva Tandava Stotra by awakening at night on this day.

Pradosh fast

Pradosh fast is kept on the Trayodashi date of every month. The importance of Pradosh fast falling in the spring increases even more. Pradosh Kaal, that is, the time after sunset, is considered extremely auspicious for worshiping Lord Shiva. On this day, fasting and offering Belpatra, Dhatura, cannabis, Ganga water and milk on Shivling gives health and conquers enemies. Pradosh fast is more fruitful in the form of Som Pradosh, Bhoom Pradosh and Shani Pradosh when it falls on Monday, Tuesday or Saturday.

Mangla Gauri Vrat (Tuesday of Sawan)

Mangala Gauri fast is kept on every Tuesday of Sawan. This fast especially honeymoon women keep their husband's long life and happiness of children. On this day, Gauri Swaroop of Mata Parvati is worshiped. It is believed that due to the effect of this fast, there is happiness in marital life and there is happiness and peace in the house. Unmarried girls can also keep this fast with the wish of a good groom.

Nag Panchami (Shravan Shukla Panchami)

The festival of Nag Panchami is celebrated on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Shravan month. On this day, offering milk on Shivling with worship of Nag Devta has special significance, because the serpents are considered to be the jewelery of Lord Shiva's neck.

Sawan's Ekadashi

Ekadashi dates falling in Sawan are also important to receive the grace of Lord Shiva along with Lord Vishnu. While the fast of Ekadashi is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, there is also a law of worship of Shiva family on this day. Keeping a fast on the Ekadashi of Sawan and chanting the mantras dedicated to Lord Shiva brings mental peace and get rid of sins.
