Tajikistani singer and Bigg Boss 16 star Abdu Rozik was briefly detained at Dubai International Airport early Saturday morning, shortly after arriving from Montenegro. While initial reports suggested he was arrested on allegations of theft, his management has firmly denied the claim.
Rozik’s management company confirmed to Khaleej Times that the 21-year-old was “taken into custody” around 5 AM. However, in a follow-up statement, his team clarified, “First of all, he was not arrested—he was only detained by the police. Abdu Rozik provided an explanation and was released. He will be attending the award ceremony in Dubai today.”
A spokesperson from the S-Line Project, which manages Rozik’s professional affairs, also added, “Secondly, information in the media is not correct. We will take all legal action to protect Abdu Rozik and his image. Also, we will provide you with all the information later on to inform the Indian people. Believe us, we have a lot to say regarding this issue.”
Shortly after the incident gained traction online, Abdu Rozik posted an update on Instagram Stories and shared videos from the Dubai award function he attended later that day. In one clip, he is seen reuniting with Bigg Boss 16 co-contestant Shiv Thakare, putting an end to arrest rumours.
This isn’t the first time Rozik has been linked to a legal controversy. In 2023, India’s Enforcement Directorate reportedly questioned him in connection with a money laundering investigation involving a hospitality company. Though not named as an accused, the association attracted widespread media coverage.
Most recently, the reality TV star appeared on Laughter Chefs: Entertainment Unlimited Season 2 alongside YouTuber Elvish Yadav. Their camaraderie and comic timing made them fan favourites, although Rozik exited midway during Ramadan for what he said was a short trip to Dubai. He was eventually replaced by actor Karan Kundrra.
