Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh was speaking at the inauguration of the construction work for a stretch of road in the Shiv Vihar area, under the Vikaspuri assembly constituency, which has long been lying in a dilapidated condition.
Hundreds of locals gathered on the occasion thanked the minister for addressing and fulfilling a long-standing demand.
The minister said due to the negligence of the previous government, the road and drains remained in a sorry state of affairs for over a decade, causing immense hardship to residents.
He alleged due to the apathy of the previous administration, this stretch of road had been lying broken and neglected for over ten years, causing enormous inconvenience to commuters and residents alike.
To address this pressing issue, the road is now being constructed using funds from the MLA Local Area Development Scheme, he said.
According to Singh, not only the road, but the adjoining drains are also being rebuilt and repaired, which is going to resolve several issues that impact the cleanliness.
The new infrastructure will now ensure smoother, safer, and more comfortable travel for residents, the Transport minister added.
Following the inauguration, Singh toured nearby areas and interacted with beneficiaries at a local ration shop.
He inquired whether citizens were receiving the government-mandated quantity of food grains from the Fair Price Shop (FPS). He also took stock of other civic issues and heard the local issues, patiently listening to their concerns.
The minister assured the residents of conveying this to concerned departments to take action for addressing problems faced by locals in the area.
He emphasized that public service remains the core commitment of the present government led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
Singh remarked that development projects had stagnated under the previous regime, but now, efforts are being made to transform Delhi into “Viksit Bharat ki Viksit Rajdhani”
