YouTube is rapidly moving forward with one of its four big AI plans in 2025. In June, the company first introduced an AI-powered video search feature, which was being tested in the US for only a few users. Now the scope of this feature is being expanded, but it will still be available only to YouTube Premium users.

How will the new feature work

According to a report by Android Authority, AI search is now reaching more Premium subscribers in the US. It is currently available only on mobile apps (including iOS) and will work only in English. According to YouTube's Experiments page, this feature will remain in testing till August 20. After this, whether it will be launched globally or not is not yet decided.

AI search will not be available for every topic.

Google had said in June that these AI search results would be visible only for certain categories, such as shopping, travel, or activities to be done at a place. For example, searching for "Best beaches in Hawaii" shows results in a carousel.

Other YouTube experiments

The list of experiments for YouTube Premium is currently quite small. One of them is the comment threading feature, which was introduced in February and later improved with updates. Similarly, AI search was also initially available to a limited number of users, but now YouTube wants to get more feedback by making it available to more people.
