Karnataka's Healthcare Expansion Plans

Bhubaneswar: The state government is poised to recruit 1,840 doctors and medical officers, along with over 5,000 paramedical personnel, according to official sources on Monday. This announcement came during a significant review meeting of the Health and Family Welfare department, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhavan.

The Chief Minister underscored the administration's dedication to enhancing healthcare accessibility, urging for the swift appointment of academic staff, including assistant professors, associate professors, and professors, across various medical colleges. This initiative aims to bolster medical education and facilitate the expansion of postgraduate seats. He also stressed the need for more doctors in tribal and underprivileged areas, where healthcare access is limited. "A rationalization process will be initiated to ensure that medical personnel are optimally distributed throughout the state, especially in tribal and underserved regions," the CM stated.

Furthermore, the government intends to set up integrated trauma care centers in regions prone to accidents to enhance emergency medical services. To encourage medical professionals to serve in remote areas, the incentive packages for doctors in challenging postings will be improved.

The Chief Minister instructed secretaries to ensure timely and appropriate actions regarding recruitment, salaries, and institutional advancements within the health sector. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling and Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja were also in attendance.
