Divine palace and city of Lord Vishwakarma
Vishwakarma jayanti 2025: Lord Vishwakarma is considered the god of craft and architecture. In the Vedas and Puranas, he has been called an engineer of the gods. It is said that the grand palaces, divine city and amazing buildings of the gods are known till date, they are all the results of Vishwakarma's imagination and crafts. From his workmanship, city like heaven, Lanka and Dwarka remain immortal examples even today.
Vishwakarma also built the grand heaven of Indradev. Indrapuri, adorned with gold and gems, is said to be a symbol of eternal beauty. The court here, Pushpavan and Ratnamandit Mahal is the greatest proof of his divine craft.
Golden Lanka, the most grand city of Tretayuga, is also the work of Vishwakarma. There is a story that he initially gave this city to Kubera, but later Ravana grabbed it. Even today, the Gold Lanka saying is considered an example of his workmanship.
There is a description in the Mahabharata and Bhagavata Purana that when Shri Krishna settled a divine city in the middle of the sea, his craftsman was Lord Vishwakarma. The streets of Dwarka, Ratnjatit palace and grand doors were sample of his amazing architecture.
Vishwakarma also constructed the two most famous cities of Hastinapur and Indraprastha associated with the background of Kurukshetra. Especially the Maysabha built for the Pandavas was so supernatural that till Duryodhana was confused by his elusive workmanship.
The grand palaces of Kubera, the god of wealth and the craft of Yakshapuri, were also prepared by Vishwakarma. They were embellished with divine metals and gems.
