Walt Disney-owned ABC’s decision to axe Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show following his comments on  Charlie Kirk left the TV host absolutely livid, according to reports. Sources close to Kimmel said that he will continue to do what he believes in and already has new offers lined up.

The last-night host is  “absolutely f***ing livid” they canceled Jimmy Kimmel Live! just hours before he was due to go on air, according to the Daily Mail. The sources added that Kimmel is holding a last-minute “crunch meeting” with the TV executives but is keen to “break his relationship with them forever”.

He has already planned his future moves, and is “teeing up a guest slot with axed CBS star Stephen Colbert.” Colbert’s ‘The Late Show’, which airs on CBS, will be discontinued after ten seasons in May 2026. CBS stated that the move was based on financial reasons, not performance or content, but his fans aren’t convinced.

However, the ABC stated that Kimmel’s axing comes “ over comments he made concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk.” Kimmel made the contentious remarks on his Monday night show, stating, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

The source told Daily Mail that Kimmel was upset over the decision, and ABC’s decision was the “last straw” and is now “looking to forever break his relationship with ABC”. “Jimmy isn’t going to take this lightly and is actively looking for ways to get out of his contract,” the unnamed source added.

His next step could be with Stephen Colbert, who is already looking to get Jimmy on his show as a guest in the next couple of days or within the week. “’Now they both are in the same predicament, being against the Trump administration, and they are now looking to do something together to fight for what they believe in,” he said, adding that both “don’t want Trump to win” and this has the recent move has only prompted “Jimmy to be continue to tell it like it is and be real”.

A producer with the show told Daily Mail that “they don’t have anything to do” and “were wandering like aimless cows”. He, too, added that Kimmel was “livid” and accused the government of overreaching, stating there was no such thing as free speech in America. “You can only imagine how Jimmy is. He’s beside himself. I’ve never seen him this angry, ever. It’s bad,’ he said.
