New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has warned several countries about drug trafficking. Trump has also taken action in this matter. The US Embassy in Delhi issued a statement stating that it has revoked the visas of some Indian business executives and industrialists. They will not be granted visas in the future. This action is against those found involved in the trafficking of fentanyl precursors.

The embassy clarified that this action is part of the US government’s strict policy against trafficking networks. The embassy’s Consular and Diplomatic Security team is continuously investigating such cases.

On September 17, 2025, the United States added India to a list of 23 countries where illicit drug production and trafficking takes place. Trump stated that these countries pose a threat to the security of the United States and its citizens by producing and trafficking illicit drugs and the chemicals used in their manufacture. The United States stated that it is monitoring all countries in this regard.

The US Embassy said the visa cancellations of some Indian company executives are part of Washington’s broader effort to protect Americans from the threat of dangerous synthetic drugs. “This decision will render certain business associates and their relatives ineligible to travel to the United States,” the US Embassy said in a press release.

Officials of companies trafficking fentanyl precursors will also be identified by the embassy when applying for visas to the US. Noting the threat posed by fentanyl and illicit drug trafficking, the US embassy also thanked the Indian government for its cooperation in combating it. The press release quoted Charge d’Affaires Jorgen Andrews as saying, “Individuals and organizations involved in the illicit production and trafficking of narcotics into the United States, along with their families, will face consequences.”
