Sanju Samson on Ignored in ODI: Team India has been announced for the Australia tour. Sanju Samson’s name is in the T20 team but he has been ignored in the ODI team. This thing has been happening for a long time. Sanju scored a century in his last innings in ODI. He played this innings against South Africa in December 2023. Sanju has cemented his place in the T20 team and has been performing well continuously. Sanju was moved in and out of the team several times in his career. Now he has broken his silence on being repeatedly ignored.
While talking on Sports Cast Podcast, Sanju Samson expressed his pain over his first century in ODI and being repeatedly dropped from the team. He said, ‘I think my first century came in South Africa. I was in and out of the team and playing some matches. I knew deep inside that I was worthy of playing at the international level. However, until you prove yourself to people, you are not accepted.
Samson further said, ‘After that century, I don’t know what the players were talking about but in my mind I knew that I was made for this level. At that time many things changed internally. It was the deciding match of the series and I knew that if I did not perform, I would be dropped. That’s why when I scored a century in difficult times, I told myself that I can do this and I am made for bigger things.
Sanju Samson’s record in ODI is quite excellent. He made his ODI debut in July 2021 and since then he has played 16 ODI matches and got a chance to bat 14 times. He has scored 510 runs and his average is 56.66. Meanwhile, his highest score is 108. He scored a century and a half-century in ODIs. Looking at his record it is clear that he should get a place in Team India.
