Ingredients for making gram flour barfi
Gram flour (fine) – 1 cup
Desi Ghee – 3/4 cup
Sugar – 1 cup
Water – 1/2 cup
Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
For decoration – chopped pistachios/almonds
Method to make gram flour barfi
Take a pan, add ghee in it and heat it lightly. After this, add gram flour and reduce the flame.

Fry the gram flour on low flame, stirring continuously, until it turns light golden and gives off a slight aroma. This may take about 10-15 minutes.
Once the gram flour is roasted well, take it out in a plate. Be careful not to let it cool.
Now, add sugar and water in the same pan and heat.
Cook on low flame until the sugar dissolves completely.
We have to make syrup of one string. For this, test a little syrup between your finger and thumb. If a thin string forms, the syrup is ready.
Now add cardamom powder. Then, turn off the flame and immediately add the roasted hot gram flour in the syrup.
Keep stirring it frequently to prevent lumps from forming. After some time the mixture will start thickening.

Then apply ghee on a plate or tray and grease it lightly.
Spread the prepared mixture on a smooth tray and level it with a spoon.
Sprinkle chopped pistachios or almonds on top and press lightly.
When the mixture becomes slightly hot, cut it into barfi shapes with a knife.
Let it cool completely (at least 2-3 hours).
After it cools down, cut the barfi into pieces and serve it to your family this Dhanteras.
Tip: If your syrup becomes a little hard, add a spoonful of milk while stirring the mixture and mix well. This will make the barfi soft.
