Lord Dhanvantatri Temple: Today the festival of Dhanteras is being celebrated across the country. On this day, Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped, along with this, Lord Dhanvantari is also worshiped in the medical field. On the occasion of Dhanteras, there is a special combination of many things. Many people may not know that the only idol of Lord Dhanvantari is located in Sudia, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, where crowds start gathering for worship on the day of Dhanteras. The doors of this temple open once a year on the day of Dhanteras. The doors of the temple will be open for 5 hours for darshan. It is said that the temples are open for 5 hours.
It is said that the celebration of Lord Dhanvantari’s birth anniversary started 327 years ago. Talking about it, Lord Dhanvantari is known as the God of Ayurveda. The image of Lord Dhanvantari makes all the devotees different. In this puja, the Lord holds an Amrit Kalash in one hand and a conch in the other hand. The Lord is seen holding a Chakra in his third hand and a leech in his fourth hand, and maids on either side are seen swinging the wheel. Also, after seeing the divine tableau, the devotees chant Lord Dhanvantari.
The temple of Lord Dhanavatari is located in Sudia, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. In this temple, the two and a half feet high Ashtadhatu idol and its 25 kg gem studded idol makes one feel of being in Baikunthpur. Apart from this, Rajvaidya Late. Shivkumar Shastri’s family has been engaged in the service of the Lord for five generations. His Baba Pt. Babunandan Ji had started Dhanvantari Jayanti 326 years ago. Their present generation is maintaining this tradition.
