Hockey India President and former Indian men’s hockey team captain Dr Dilip Tirkey was honored with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ by the Calcutta Sports Journalists Club (CSJC) for his outstanding contribution to Indian sports.


This prestigious honor was presented to him by former Indian cricket captain and former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly in Kolkata on Friday.


Indian hockey legend Dr. Tirkey has represented India in 412 international matches, including three Olympic Games (1996, 2000, 2004). He is considered one of the best defenders in the country.


Since assuming the post of President of Hockey India, Dr. Tirkey has initiated several developmental and structural reforms to take Indian Hockey to new heights, which has given new direction and momentum to the game in the country.
