Patna. The weather patterns are changing rapidly once again. Due to the new low pressure area formed in the south-eastern part of Bengal, there is now a possibility of cyclonic storm ‘Montha’ being formed. According to meteorologists, this storm can fully develop by October 27 and move towards the coastal areas of Odisha and West Bengal. Due to its effect, rainy conditions may occur in these two states as well as in Bihar and Jharkhand.
Warning of heavy rain for three days
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in many districts of Odisha and West Bengal between October 27 and October 30. Bhubaneswar Meteorological Department Director Manorama Mohanty said that the low pressure system is moving in the west-northwest direction and there is a high possibility of it turning into a cyclonic storm. The government has instructed people living in coastal areas to remain alert and the administration to be fully prepared for disaster management. Fishermen have been advised not to go into the sea for the next few days.
Effect will be visible in Bihar and Jharkhand also
According to the Meteorological Department, when this system originating from the Bay of Bengal will move towards the north-west, it will also affect the weather of Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh. There may be isolated light to moderate rain in these areas on October 29 and 30. Also, there is a possibility of drop in temperature and cold winds.
Concern increased in Tamil Nadu, damage to crops
Meanwhile, due to the active north-east monsoon, Cauvery delta region of Tamil Nadu has been receiving incessant rains, causing damage to standing crops. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin held a review meeting with senior officials and instructed all the districts to remain alert and ensure preparation for relief operations.
