News India Live, Digital Desk: This morning brought some relief news for the people of Delhi. Due to increase in wind speed, pollution levels have reduced slightly, due to which the overall air quality of the city has improved from ‘very poor’ category to ‘poor’ category. Delhi’s average Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 257 on Saturday morning. However, even this slight improvement is not enough to celebrate as the air still remains at dangerous levels in many areas. Anand Vihar is in the worst condition. Many areas of the capital are still facing the brunt of pollution. The situation in Anand Vihar is most worrying, where the AQI was recorded at ‘severe’ level of 412 in the morning. Apart from this, areas like Bawana, Wazirpur, Punjabi Bagh and Shadipur also remain in the ‘very poor’ category. Experts say that increased wind speed has helped in scattering the pollutant particles, thereby improving the average AQI. However, the weather forecast system estimates that the air quality will remain between ‘poor’ and ‘very poor’ category in the coming days. Preparations for artificial rain to deal with pollution: To control the increasing pollution, Delhi government has completed preparations for artificial rain in collaboration with IIT Kanpur. After a successful trial, if weather conditions remain favourable, artificial rain can be provided for the first time in Delhi on October 29. The government believes that this technology can prove to be an important step in the fight against pollution. Meanwhile, doctors have advised people, especially children and the elderly, to exercise caution and step out of the house only when absolutely necessary.
