Kanpur, 04 November (Read). On Tuesday, a BSC student committed suicide by hanging himself in a hotel room located in Harbans Mohal police station area. The female friend present in the room informed the hotel staff. He was quickly taken out of the noose and taken to the hospital where he died. The forensic team collected evidence from the scene. The police has sent the body for post-mortem and started investigation.

Anurag Yadav, originally a resident of Kayamganj, was a BSc first year student as well as an NCC cadet. Family members told that 10 days ago the student had come to Kanpur to participate in the NCC camp. Monday was his last day in the camp. He called home and told that he would return on Tuesday.

The student’s girlfriend told during interrogation that she is originally from Kanpur Dehat. Apart from this, she is also a first year B.Sc. student. He has been an NCC cadet for three years. He met the student about two years ago. Mobile numbers were exchanged between the two. Then this friendship turned into love.

He further told that after the end of the camp on Monday, both of us reached Hotel Dreams Inn located at Harbans Mahal. During this the student said that we will stay in the hotel for one more day. To which I refused and went to take a bath. When I came back, I saw that he was hanging from the noose with the help of his dupatta.

Assistant Police Commissioner Ashutosh Kumar Singh said that the student committed suicide by hanging himself. The body has been sent for post-mortem. Further legal action will be taken on the basis of the complaint.
