Let us tell you that when AAI did not pay any attention to the demand of ATC controllers, the Air Traffic Controllers Guild of India had also written a letter to the Parliament Standing Committee in this regard. In this letter written in July 2025, it was clearly stated that the ATC system is now quite old.

The guild had warned five months ago

According to sources to AAI, in the letter written by the guild, it was also told that the automation systems being used at big airports like Delhi and Mumbai are continuously facing the problem of slow performance and lag. These are the same systems that manage the country’s air traffic. This means that if there is any kind of glitch in these, then the entire aviation system can come to a standstill. The Guild had written its letter saying that now the time has come to review and upgrade these automation systems of air navigation services, because the traffic is increasing rapidly and operations are becoming more complex day by day.

He also said that India will now have to take its systems to global standards. The Guild had also cited the systems of Europe’s Eurocontrol and America’s Federal Aviation Administration. He had told that the system present in these countries is not only of advanced technology, but also works on AI-based prediction, real-time data sharing and smart conflict detection systems. Let us tell you that the Guild had written this letter after the AI ​​171 flight crash, so that immediate action could be taken on some very important issues to safety. But the big thing is that despite these things reaching the top management of AAI, no action was taken.

Technical glitch or negligence of the system
