A new report has given fans a clearer picture of how involved the Guardians of the Galaxy might be in Avengers: Doomsday, and it looks like their role could be smaller than expected. While Marvel has already confirmed that big names like Captain America, Thor, and Hulk will appear in the 2026 film, the fate of James Gunn’s beloved space crew is still uncertain.

Will the Guardians from Guardians of the Galaxy return for Avengers: Doomsday?

According to insider Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circusthe Guardians won’t have a major impact on the story. He revealed that Zoe Saldaña’s Gamora will be “out of the picture,” and her absence will be used to highlight how the walls between different universes in the Multiverse Saga are breaking down. Perez explained that since the version of Gamora seen in Endgame and Guardians Vol. 3 isn’t from the main MCU timeline, her story will mainly serve as an example of how reality itself is becoming unstable.

As for the rest of the Guardians, Perez admitted that there’s not much information yet. The only member he’s heard about being possibly involved is Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord. Reports suggest that Star-Lord was previously supposed to play some role in Doomsdayso there’s still a chance he’ll appear.

Fans will remember that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ended with the original team going their separate ways. Rocket Raccoon and Groot stayed behind to lead a new lineup, including Adam Warlock, Cosmo the Space Dog, and Kraglin, while Star-Lord returned to Earth.

With James Gunn now fully focused on his new role at DC Studios, the future of the Guardians in the MCU has been uncertain. No official announcements have been made about their appearance in Doomsdaybut rumors suggest that Marvel might host another cast reveal event soon, adding more characters like Captain Marvel and possibly a Spider-Man variant.

If the Guardians do show up, only a few of them, especially Star-Lord, will likely make an appearance. Zoe Saldaña has made it clear she’s finished with the franchise, so Gamora is out for good. But the rest of the team is still somewhere in the universe, waiting for their next call to action.

For now, fans can only hope that Avengers: Doomsday will at least give a small nod to the ragtag heroes who helped define one of Marvel’s most loved storylines.
