Haryana News: Eligible people have to wait for a long time to get the benefits of Haryana’s Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Family Protection (DAYALU) Scheme. The situation is that about 35 and a half thousand files are still pending under the scheme. Even the files till the month of March have not been cleared yet, whereas the responsibility of the Planning Department is with Chief Minister Nayab Saini himself.

The biggest reason for the files being pending is that currently they are disposed of only from the Panchkula headquarters, where there is a huge shortage of employees. Due to this, beneficiaries wishing to get financial assistance remain waiting for several months. Now the government is preparing to make major changes in this system. Soon the process of clearing files will be started at the district level also, so that the pendency can be reduced. This scheme was launched in April 2023 during the tenure of former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

Under Dayalu Yojana, financial assistance ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh is given to the victim’s family in case of road accident, untimely death or permanent disability due to accident. But due to slow processing of files, eligible families are not getting relief on time.

Change became necessary due to these three reasons

At present more than 35,500 files of Dayalu Yojana are pending. The department receives around 150–200 new files every day, meaning around 4,400 files are submitted every month. The existing staff is not able to dispose of them on time, due to which files for the month of March are being put up in November also.

Dayalu Scheme is operated by Haryana Family Security Trust and Dayalu Branch based in Panchkula. There is a huge shortage of employees here. Recently only one administrative officer has been appointed. Apart from this, limited staff handles the work of file scanning and uploading, due to which the pace of work becomes slow.

Chief Minister Nayab Saini himself is in charge of the Planning Department. For this reason the officials want to avoid any kind of negligence. Now, to speed up the process at the departmental level, the process of transferring the authority to dispose of files to the district level is being started.

What is Dayalu Yojana?

Dayalu Scheme provides financial assistance to those families of Haryana whose annual income is up to Rs 1.80 lakh and who are registered in Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP). If a family member dies in an accident or gets more than 70% permanent disability, financial assistance ranging from Rs 1 to Rs 5 lakh is given depending on the age. This assistance is in addition to the benefits available from other schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) or PMSBY.
