Shami was also left out of India’s two-match Test series against South Africa. Gill said that there are very few bowlers of Shami’s quality, although the performances of Prasidh Krishna and Akash Deep cannot be ignored. Gill also said that it will not be easy to defeat South Africa as they are the current world champions and had won the title by defeating Australia at Lord’s Cricket Ground earlier this year. “I think these two Test matches are very important for our chances of qualifying for the WTC final.
