14 Nov 2025
The Lakhisarai Assembly election trends are in, with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha trailing Congress's Amaresh Kumar by a slender margin of 79 votes.
He is also up against Suraj Kumar of Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party (JSP).
The constituency recorded a voter turnout of 63.46%.
This election is particularly noteworthy as it features a Bhumihar vs Bhumihar battle between Sinha and Amresh Kumar.
NDA ahead in 150 seats
Election update
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is leading in 150 seats as per early trends. Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Janata Dal-led Mahagathbandhan is ahead in 75 seats.
Sinha has been representing Lakhisarai for 20 years and is now seeking his fifth term.
He took a dig at the opposition, saying "Appu and Pappu" (Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi) aren't taken seriously by Bihar's public.
Bihar election results to shape political dynamics
Political impact
The Bihar Assembly election results will determine the state's political landscape, with NDA aiming to retain power and Mahagathbandhan hoping to reverse the tide after 20 years, albeit with disruptions.
Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) had earlier tweeted about returning "government of good governance."
Sinha prayed at the Ashokdham temple before vote counting began at 8:00am.
