New Delhi: Jasprit Bumrah’s stump mic chat with wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant about Temba Bavuma’s height has gone viral on social media after the fast bowler thought he had trapped the South African captain in front of the stumps during the opening day of the first Test in Kolkata on Friday, November 14.
The incident happened on the final ball of the 13th over as Bumrah looked to dismiss another batter after removing Aiden Markram. The ball hit Bavuma’s pads, and Bumrah went for an appeal, but the umpire refused to give it out.
The Indian players gathered to discuss about taking a referral when the pacer referred to Bavuma as a short person and asked if he should go for it. However, Pant looked unconvinced and said that the ball was going over the leg stump despite the Proteas captain’s height.

The hawkeye showed that the ball was going over the stumps by just a few centimetres. However, Bavuma was removed by Kuldeep Yadav for three runs off 11 balls.
