IT Amendment Rules 2025: From 15 November 2025 Instagram, YouTube and Like the new system is going to be implemented on all the big social media platforms. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is going to implement Information Technology Amendment Rules 2025. These rules will further strengthen the responsibilities of social media companies by updating the existing IT Rules 2021. The special thing is that creators are also going to get a lot of benefit from these new provisions. Let us understand what changes are going to happen.

1. Senior Level Accountability: Now ban on removing arbitrary content

Under the new rules, now only senior officials will be able to give orders to declare any post “illegal” and remove it. Only those officers who are at Secretary level or above, or DIG rank police officers will have the right to issue orders. This change is expected to reduce the incidents of arbitrary content removal.

2. Resent Intimation: There will be clear legal basis for removing the post

Now, when instructed to remove any content, a clear and legally accurate intimation will be sent to the user. It will be clearly written in it

• What is the real reason for removing the content


• Which section is applicable


• There will also be a legal link to the section

Earlier it was called Notification, but now its new name will be Intimation, which is considered more transparent and legally strong.

3. There will be a high level review system every month

Monthly review system has also been included in the new rules. Under this, every month a secretary level officer of the government will check whether the removed content was actually removed for the right reasons or not. This will also curb wrong or biased decisions and the interests of the creators will be protected.
