All-rounder Ravindra Jadejahas set a fresh benchmark for himself in his glorious Test career of 88 appearances. Jadeja has now become only the fourth all-rounder in the world with a double of minimum of 4000 runs 300-plus wickets in Tests. The Gujarat-born achieved the elite feat to join the legendary list consisting of names like Kapil Dev, Ian Botham, and Daniel Vettori.
On November 15, he became the first bowler in the history of the WTC to attain a double of 150 wickets and 2500 runs. The contest at the Eden Gardens is his 47th match in the WTC, and he has also been among the spinners with most wickets ever since. He now also has become the fourth spinner to take 250 or more wickets in India.

Speaking of where the match stands at Stumps on Day 2, South Africa hold a slender lead of 63 runs. They have already lost seven wickets, four of whom were picked up by Jadeja. The spin-bowling all-rounder, who had ended wicketless in the first innings, spun a web against the Proteas in their second innings.
Jadeja has accounted for the wickets of Aiden Markram (4 off 23), Wiaan Mulder (11 off 30), Tony de Zorzi (2 off 2) and Tristan Stubbs (5 off 18). India will aim at wrapping up the innings soon and taking a 1-0 lead heading into the second Test.
The subsequent match is slated to be played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The contest is lined up to commence on November 22. The Test series will be followed by a three-match ODI series and five T20Is.
