Which Shiva Shakti chose for her residence. The city which provides salvation from sin. The city where people aspire to come to sacrifice their lives in the last moments of their lives. Kashi is also considered the spiritual center of the universe.
It is mentioned in the scriptures about Kashi that in ancient times there were 72,000 temples, equal to the number of nadis in the human body. Kashi, resting on the trident of Lord Shiva, is said to be about 33 feet above the ground. In such a situation, Kashi is considered an essential place for spiritual purification and liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
Kashi which was built by Lord Shiva himself for his residence. There is a belief about Kashi that when Shiva married Parvati, the daughter of the mountain king Himalaya, he used to reside on Kailash and perform penance. Mother Parvati was uncomfortable with this, because Kailash was part of the same mountain ranges of which her father was the king. In such a situation, to fulfill the wish of Mother Parvati, Mahadev started searching for his residence. This work was entrusted to Devarshi Narad, Dev Shilpi Vishwakarma and architect Vastu Purush. Mahadev set a condition for all three of them to find a place where Ganga was the northern channel, the land was like Trikhand like Kailash and also the place was sacred and a place of tapasya. Kashi is such a place today. In such a situation, you must have understood why Kashi is given so much importance.
But, do you know that Kashi was not the first choice for the abode of Mahadev. Earlier, a similar area had been selected in Bihar. Where Mahadev's Kashi was to be established. But, due to lack of just one jot of land, this residence of Nath Vishwanath of Kashi could not be made. If at that time in Satyayug, Devarshi Narad, Dev Shilpi Vishwakarma, architect Vaastu Purush had got enough land at that place, then a trikhand equal to Kailash would have been prepared. Nath of Kashi would have been seated there today.
This place is in Bihar. This story is very interesting. Bhagalpur district of Bihar is known as Silk City, Kahalgaon is a small town under it. Where there is a temple of Baba Bateshwar Nath on the hill amidst the strong stream of Mother Ganga, this place is called Bateshwar Dham. Before the settlement of Kashi, Devarshi Narad, Dev Shilpi Vishwakarma, architect Vastu Purush had chosen this place for the residence of Mahadev. But, when the measurement of this land started, it was less than the land of Kailash by one barley. Now let us tell you about this place that here two conditions laid down by Mahadev for Kashi were fulfilled. One thing is that Goddess Ganga flows here in the northern direction. Along with this, it was the penance place of Rishi Kohal, where he had performed severe penance, hence this place was also the penance place and holy. But, along with all this, Mahadev's third condition was that the land should be equal to that of Kailash, but there was less land equal to barley. In such a situation, Kashi, the holy place of Rishi Kohal, kept on being built.
This is the same Bateshwar place, where sage Vashishtha had also performed severe penance, due to which Brahmaji was pleased and blessed him to be the family guru of Raghukul. Maryada Purushottam Lord Ram was born in this clan. It is here that Rishi Vashishtha worshiped Mahadev in the form of Vishveshwar, due to which this place is called Bateshwar Dham.
This is the first place in the world, where in front of the Shivalinga of Baba Bateshwar, there is a temple not of Mother Parvati but of Mother Kali, who sits towards the south, hence she is worshiped as Dakshineshwari Kali. In such a situation, this place is famous as Dev-Shakti Peeth. This place is considered suitable for Tantra Vidya, it is also called Gupt Kashi. This place is also the confluence of Ganga and Kosi. This place is therefore described in the Puranas as Gupta Kashi. This has also been the penance place of sage Durvasa and there is a belief about this area that this area is the place of origin of the banana tree.
In such a situation, Tapo place, land equal to Kailash, flow of North channel Ganga, Kashi which fulfilled these three conditions was chosen for the residence of Mahadev. Lord of Gods Mahadev resided at this place along with Mother Parvati. In this way, while settling in Bihar, Kashi settled in Uttar Pradesh.
