PTC Web Desk: The Delhi government, led by Rekha Gupta, has approved the renaming of three metro stations along the Phase 4 network. She has announced that one existing station and two upcoming ones wouldget new names reflecting their local identities more accurately.
Speaking during the Kalash Yatra in Haiderpur, Rekha Gupta stated that Pitampura Metro Station on the Red Line would now be known as Madhuban Chowk, aligning it with the prominent junction it serves. The station is set to become a key interchange once the RK Puram–Janakpuri stretch of the Magenta Line under Phase 4 becomes operational.
She further said the under-construction North Pitampura station located in QU Block would now be called North Pitampura–Prashant Vihar, while the proposed Pitampura North station had been officially renamed Haiderpur Village. Both stations fall on the upcoming RK Puram–Janakpuri corridor, which is expected to open next year.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is currently executing around 112 km of new metro lines under Phase 4. Active construction is underway on two major corridors, RK Ashram Marg–Janakpuri West and Aerocity–Tughlakabad, while the Majlis Park–Maujpur extension of the Pink Line is nearing completion. Three additional corridors cleared last year remain in the pre-construction stage.
This renaming initiative is not new to the network. In 2023, the popular HUDA City Centre station in Gurugram was rechristened Millennium City Centre following requests from the Centre and the Haryana government. Officials noted that all name changes are processed through the State Names Authority before final approval.
