There is no doubt that Jude Bellingham is one of England's most important assets when it comes to their hopes of World Cup glory. He is a superstar of the game and is among the best midfielders on the planet when he is firing on all cylinders. However, his poor attitude is starting to become a problem for the Three Lions and it needs to change quickly.

It has never been more obvious that he doesn't see eye-to-eye with Thomas Tuchel, with the pair having clashed on several occasions. The England boss raised eyebrows in the summer when he revealed that his mother found Bellingham's on-pitch behaviour to be 'repulsive' at times. Tuchel later retracted his comments, insisting that he was a big fan of the player, but tensions have remained since then.

More controversy erupted when Bellingham was left out of the England squad for their games against Wales and Latvia last month. He returned to the side in Sunday's win over Albania but showed his petulance by throwing a strop when he was substituted in the second half.

It was a sensible decision, given that he had just been booked and a second yellow would have suspended him for England's opening game at the World Cup. Bellingham failed to see it that way, though, and showed no hesitation in displaying his anger.

Tuchel was not impressed and made it clear in his post-match press conference that he would not pander to players just because they are waving their arms around. Quite rightly, too.

Bellingham simply needs to get his act together and take stock of the bigger picture for the benefit of his team-mates. England must have everybody pulling in the right direction to stand any chance of winning their first World Cup in six decades.

The last thing they need is a rift within the camp, which never bodes well for teams vying for glory on the biggest international stage.

Just ask France, who saw their World Cup campaign in 2010 descend into chaos because of player discontent. Or Ireland, who had Roy Keane to thank for overshadowing their 2002 tournament by dramatically storming out on his team-mates.

Even though England failed to win anything under Gareth Southgate, their unity and togetherness were key in helping them reach two major finals. It is an essential quality that is lacking when it comes to Bellingham as things stand.

If he continues to steal the headlines for the wrong reasons through his sulking behaviour, there is every chance that England's dream of World Cup glory could suffer as a result.

Next summer will be their best chance in a generation and it would be a crying shame for that to be ruined by the petulance of one player.

Simply put, he would be letting his country down by refusing to let go of his poor attitude and knuckle down for the good of the team. It's unnecessary and needs to change immediately.
