The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is urging Brits to follow five steps as flu cases surge across the country. The latest figures reveal hospital admissions for flu in England have jumped to 3.8 per 100,000 people last week, up from 2.4 the week before, according to UKHSA data.

While this remains significantly lower than recent peak levels, such admission rates aren't typically seen until December. The warning follows Australia's worst-ever flu season, which historically provides a reliable indication of what Britain can expect.

In a recent post on X, formerly Twitter, the UKHSA said: "Feel yourself coming down with something? Help stop common infections like #flu from spreading with this checklist for you and your family."
