Six Maoists were killed in an encounter with security personnel in Alluri Sitaramaraju district on Tuesday, November 18a senior police official said.

According to district superintendent of police (SP) Amit Bardarthe exchange of fire took place between 6:30 am and 7:00 am in the forested area of Maredumilli mandal.

“Yes, six Maoists were killed in an encounter in Alluri district today (Tuesday),” SP Bardar told PTI.

The SP added that the action was part of a joint operation involving multiple wings of the police department. Further details regarding identities and recoveries from the site are awaited.
