What happened after this is shocking. In the name of treatment, Bhopa placed his mouth on the woman's stomach and bit it with his teeth, and claimed that he had taken out the stone. The woman's husband Bunty told that a few days ago Reshma had severe stomach pain.

12 mm stone in gallbladder

Upon examination, it was found that he had a 12 mm stone in his gallbladder. Doctors had advised operation, but due to fear and expense the family could not get the treatment done. After this, on the advice of an acquaintance, he reached a Bhope located in Pur village of Bhilwara district. First the slip was cut there, then we were made to wait for about an hour. Bhope pretended to treat by placing his mouth on the stomach and suddenly bit it with his teeth.

Bhopa did not refuse even when the pain was unbearable.

Bhopa showed some pieces of stone to the woman and claimed that this was the stone which had now come out. But after a few hours the woman's condition started deteriorating again. When the pain became unbearable, the family took him to Bundi District Hospital. There, Dr. Ratna Jain examined and told that stones were still present in the gallbladder and there were teeth marks on the stomach.

Risk of infection from tooth cut wound

Dr. Jain told that the woman does not currently have infection, but there is a risk of infection from the wound cut by the tooth. If treatment is not done in time, it could prove fatal. The woman is being given necessary medical treatment and now her condition is normal. This incident once again proves that superstition still remains a serious threat in rural areas, where superstition is given priority over medical treatment.
