Reigning World Champion Jaismine Lamboria (57kg) and two-time former World Champion Nikhat Zareen (51kg) led India’s most successful day so far at the World Boxing Cup Finals 2025 advancing to the gold-medal matches as the host nation confirmed a record 15 finalists for Thursday’s title bouts the highest number from any country in this elite eight-only tournament held at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida on Wednesday.

Jaismine dominated Kazakhstan’s Ulzhan Sarsenbek the former Asian Youth Champion winning 5-0 with confident defense and sharp fluid combinations. She will now face Paris Olympic medallist Wu Shih-Yi in a highly anticipated final.

Nikhat also starred as India completed a triple win over Uzbekistan in Session 7 with Sachin Siwach and Hitesh Gulia among the winners. Using her top-level experience Nikhat controlled the fight landing precise left hooks in a tactical battle against Ganieva Gulsevar.

Sachin (60kg) started strong and used smart footwork to defeat Dilshod Abdumurodov while Hitesh (70kg) countered Mukhammadazizbek Ismoilov’s attacks effectively to claim a confident win.

In the afternoon session Pawan (55kg) and Jadumani Singh (50kg) added more victories. Pawan recovered from a close first round to beat England’s Ellis Trowbridge 5-0 while Jadumani pressured Australia’s Omer Izaz with fast punches and clever movement winning decisively.

Jugnoo (85kg) lost 5-0 Neeraj Phogat (65kg) narrowly lost 3-2 to Olympic medallist Chen Nien-Chin and Sumit (75kg) earned bronze after a 4-1 loss to Poland’s Michal Jarlinski.

With 15 Indian boxers reaching the finals the country has also secured a total of 20 medals guaranteeing every participant a podium finish. Thursday’s finals will feature several India–Uzbekistan clashes including Arundhati vs Aziza Zokirova Nupur vs Sotimboeva Oltinoy Minakshi vs Fozilova Farzona and Narender vs undefeated knockout specialist Khalimjon Mamasoliev. Jadumani and Pawan will face Asilbek Jalilov and Samandar Olimov.

Other finals include Preeti vs Italy’s Sirine Charrabi Parveen vs Japan’s Ayaka Taguchi Pooja vs Poland’s World Champion Agata Kaczmarska Ankush Phangal vs England’s Shittu Oladimeji and Abhinash Jamwal vs Japan’s experienced Shion Nishiyama setting up an exciting final day for the hosts.
