Dwarka Expressway update: In the last few days social media has erupted with claims that said commuters on the newly tolled Dwarka Expressway were paying just Rs 7 per trip far below the official toll of Rs 220- Rs 340. While the toll figure is getting world attention the truth is more nuanced and firmly grounded in policy. Here are all the details you need to know about the toll prices on the Dwarka Expressway.
Are commuters really paying Rs 7 toll?
Readers should note that no motorist actually pays a flat Rs 7 toll. Instead the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) offers eligible local residents a subsidised monthly pass costing Rs 340 for 50 trips which effectively brings the per-trip cost down to around Rs 6–7 providing major relief for daily users who rely on the expressway for work school or routine travel.
Details on Dwarka Expressway update
Under the standard structure a one-way journey costs about Rs 220 while a return within 24 hours is approximately Rs 330. For non-local users a regular monthly pass for 50 trips costs around Rs 7360. The heavily discounted local pass however is strictly limited to residents living within a 20-kilometre radius of the Bijwasan and Kherki Daula toll plazas.
How to qualify for Rs 340 monthly pass?
In order to qualify for the Rs 340 monthly pass commuters must submit their vehicle Registration Certificate Aadhaar  cardor valid address proof confirming residence within the specified zone and a passport-size photograph. Also it should be noted that eligibility is verified by matching RC details with the provided address.
Rs 7 toll a myth?
Also FASTag is mandatory as the pass is directly linked to the commuter’s FASTag account. So while the Rs 7 toll remains a myth the Rs 340 local pass allows eligible residents to travel at an exceptionally low effective cost making it a valuable option for regular commuters.
