He says that today neither an expensive Ivy League degree nor years of long study is required to make a career in AI. According to Mosseri, today’s top AI engineers are distinguished by two traits: “scrupiness” and the ability to learn extremely quickly.

Speaking on a podcast, Mosseri said that the best AI engineers are not those with the biggest degrees, but those who have the ability to learn by experimenting with new technology every day. In his words, “AI is changing so fast that the real engineer is the one who can adjust quickly and try new things on the fly.”

Mosseri believes that today’s AI ecosystem is completely different from traditional engineering. Here, it is more important to keep pace with the constantly changing environment than “writing the right way”. This is why the number of applied AI professionals is very less and they have become as valuable as a scarce resource for companies.

Mosseri says that the shortage of AI talent in 2025 is so great that big tech companies are offering packages worth crores. However, he also admitted that sometimes claims regarding salary are exaggerated, but it is true that skilled AI engineers are very few. The technology of AI is so new that it is difficult to understand in traditional education. This is why most people are developing their skills by experimenting and spending time with AI tools.

Mosseri and other tech leaders believe that in the age of AI, vibe-coding—that is, generating, improving, and learning code through AI tools—gives young developers a big advantage. According to Alexander Wang, founder of Scale AI, just as children in the computer age made careers by playing with machines, similarly the youth spending time with AI tools today will progress rapidly in the future.
