Fans across the country are celebrating a heartwarming moment involving two rising stars from their respective fields. India’s star cricketer Smriti Mandhana and Bollywood music composer Palash Muchhal are officially set to begin a new chapter together, after a dreamy proposal that has taken the internet by storm. The moment wasn’t just romantic; it carried a deeper meaning, as it happened at a venue that recently became historic for Indian cricket.

Proposal at the World Cup final venue

The proposal took place at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, where India’s women’s team created history by winning the World Cup final against South Africa earlier this month. In a video posted by Palash, Smriti can be seen blindfolded and led to the centre of the pitch. The surprise unfolds when she takes off the blindfold, Palash is on one knee, holding a ring. Smriti’s emotional reaction says it all as she accepts the proposal with a bright smile.

Soon after, close friends and family rush to the middle of the ground to share the moment with the couple. Among them was Palash’s sister, popular playback singer Palak Muchhal, who joined the celebrations immediately.

Palash captioned the video with a short and heartfelt message, hinting at how special the moment was for him. Social media users have been showering the couple with congratulations ever since.

Palash, Smriti to tie the knot this week

The celebrations have now moved into full wedding mode. Smriti and Palash are set to get married on November 23, and their haldi ceremony has already begun. A picture from the pre-wedding function is now circulating online, shared by Smriti's teammates, and as expected, Smriti’s teammates are likely to be part of several wedding rituals.

The couple also received warm wishes from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who wrote a congratulatory letter expressing his happiness on the occasion and wishing them a joyful life together.

Relationship timeline, education, career

While their professions put them constantly in the public eye, Smriti and Palash have kept their relationship mostly private since 2019. The two have been each other’s biggest cheerleaders quietly, Palash was seen in the stands during the World Cup final, supporting Smriti and the team.

The timing of the wedding could not be more memorable for Smriti. The stylish left-handed opener has been in exceptional form and played a crucial role in India’s maiden World Cup triumph. She scored 434 runs in nine innings, making her the highest run-scorer by an Indian in a single edition of the World Cup and the second-highest scorer overall in the tournament.

Born on 18 July 1996 in Mumbai and raised in Sangli, Maharashtra, Smriti was inspired by her father and brother, both of whom played cricket at local levels. She completed her education at Chintaman Rao College of Commerce in Sangli before rising to international cricket stardom.

Palash Muchhal was born on 22 May 1995 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, into a family deeply involved in music. Encouraged by parents Amita and Rajkumar Muchhal, both he and his sister Palak adopted music early in life. Palash made his Bollywood composing debut with the 2014 action film Dishkiyaoon and has since worked on various singles and movies.

More updates from the wedding are likely to surface as the big day approaches. We are so excited for their wedding pictures!
