In Hindu religion, river Ganga is considered the form of mother. It is said that whoever takes bath in the Ganga with devotion and devotion, all his sins are erased. But famous spiritual guru Devkinandan Thakur ji tells that bathing in Ganga gives results only when the person follows some important rules. According to him, almost 99% of the people who take bath in Ganga are unaware of these rules and unknowingly commit such mistakes, due to which instead of washing away their sins, they increase further.
According to spiritual guru Devkinandan Thakur, first of all it is important to understand what is the real benefit of bathing in Ganga. They say that as soon as a person takes a pledge to take a bath in the Ganga and moves towards the Ganga barefoot, he gets as much virtue as Rajasuya and Ashwamedha Yagya at his every step. But if someone goes towards Ganga wearing slippers, then half of his virtue is taken away by his slippers. Similarly, for those who reach the very shore by car, half of the benefits of their bath go to their car and the person himself gets very little benefit. Therefore, it is necessary to leave the vehicle at some distance from the Ganga and go barefoot.
Before entering the Ganga, it is advised to worship, worship and make resolutions of Mother Ganga. Thakur ji tells that as soon as a person steps into the Ganga, he is considered to be in the state of Narayan. When he fills Ganga water in a vessel, he is considered equal to Brahma and when he takes a dip and takes Ganga water on his head, he is considered equal to Shiva. That is why bathing in Ganga is considered very sacred.
Gurudev also says that it is wrong to rinse in the Ganges, wash clothes or rub the body vigorously, because the Ganges is not meant to wash away dirt but sins. It is written in the scriptures that bathing in the Ganga is a sin and defecating on the banks of the Ganga is considered a sin equivalent to killing a Brahman.
Often people wipe their body with a towel after bathing in the Ganges, but Thakur ji says that by doing so the virtue of bathing in the Ganges is destroyed. The body should be allowed to dry naturally and till then one should stay on the banks of Ganga and do bhajan-kirtan. In the end he advises that before going for Ganga bath one should take normal bath at home. The real virtue of bathing in Ganga is achieved only by following these rules.
