New Delhi, 21 November (Read)। Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL), the third-largest telecom operator in India, has launched Vi Suraksha, a safety initiative designed to help protect people in crowded places during the Sabarimala pilgrimage. The QR-coded wristbands will be given mainly to children, and to others if required, in partnership with Kerala State Police to ensure a safer and worry-free pilgrimage.
Every year many children get separated from their families during the pilgrimage, making it difficult to trace them. The QR band will include key information such as the guardian’s contact number, helping police quickly reunite lost children with their families.
To collect the safety wristbands from the base camp, Vi said:
• Parents or guardians can pre-register their children on or by visiting any Vi Store or Vi Mini Store in Kerala to get a digital registration ID.
• During the pilgrimage, they can show the digital registration ID at Vi Suraksha kiosks at the Pamba base camp and collect the wristbands already linked with their contact number.
The service is free of cost and available to all pilgrims.
Last year, Vi distributed around 20,000 wristbands and helped reunite more than 150 missing children with their families through Kerala Police. The company has also strengthened network connectivity along the Sabarimala route for smoother communication during the annual pilgrimage.
