Door-to-door survey started for 2026–27 education plan

Punjab News: The Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab has started a historic initiative in the field of education, which is directly to the future of every family. This door-to-door survey, which started from 18th November 2025, is not just a formality, but a guarantee of an assured future for you and your children. The aim of the Mann government is that no child in the state is deprived of the right to education. The Punjab government has started implementing its resolve to extend the right to education to every child in the state. This is the first time that education department teams are not limited to just offices or schools, but are reaching straight to your doorstep. Be it a migrant labourer, a daily wage worker, or living in a slum, your child will no longer be invisible. Mann government has proved that for it the poor and backward classes come first. This is a pledge to end ‘VIP culture’ and provide education to every common citizen’s child with respect.

In this survey, special attention is being given to highly sensitive sections. Those who work on the streets, labor in dhabas, or ragpickers… now all these children will be brought into the mainstream. By identifying them, the government will ensure special training and free admission in schools. This step will directly touch the hearts of millions of parents who want to give a better life to their children but due to helplessness are unable to send them to school. The government, which understands the plight of the poor, is shaping the future of every child. Based on the accurate data received from the survey, the Annual Education Plan 2026-27 will be prepared. This simply means that where there is a need for more children, new ‘Schools of Eminence’ will be opened, smart classrooms will be built and teachers will be recruited. The government is not just making promises but is working at the ground level in a planned manner. This is data-based development, which will make the schools of the locality and the city world class.

Heads/in-charges of government schools have been given the responsibility to ensure survey of every house within a radius of 3 to 5 kilometers. This process is considered important to ensure that no eligible child is left out. The survey team has been directed to pay special attention to those areas which have been deprived of educational opportunities. These include children of migrant workers, families of construction workers, nomadic children and children engaged in hazardous work in dhabas, garages or on the streets. Ensuring identification of these highly vulnerable children is a priority. Transparency and accountability have been ensured in this entire process. School heads have to cross-verify at least 80% of the entries, and all the data will be uploaded to the app. This means no irregularities, no child left behind. Mann Government believes in transparency and accountability.

According to education department officials, the availability of accurate and verified data will play a decisive role in future planning for intervention programmes, residential schools, and special training centres. The survey is being considered as an essential baseline exercise to understand and overcome the challenges of education in Punjab. “Only when every child of Punjab will study will Punjab become ‘Rangla Punjab’ again!” This slogan reflects the determination of the Bhagwant Mann government that education and the future of every citizen are at the center.
