How safe to keep laptop plugged in all the time As technology has increased its facilities, some things to it also keep people constantly worried. Be it a mobile phone or a laptop, why not have a power bank itself that can “charge” both of them? – Every such device has to be kept charged. Charging is also a hassle. There should not be excessive charging, if you forget to put it in charging then there is a risk of fire or explosion.
However, other humans continue to work to save mankind from such self-inflicted troubles.
Well, today the issue is about the laptop and keeping it continuously charging while working. The question is, is there any harm or benefit in keeping the laptop constantly charging? Will the battery be damaged by keeping it continuously charged like this?
There are different opinions regarding this. According to a study published in Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, if there is a lithium battery and it is put in charge, it gets charged quickly, but it also captures heat and as a result the level of chemical process in the battery cell increases. Therefore, after charging is done the plug should be removed.
On the other hand, experts also say that now modern batteries are manufactured in such a way that after they are 100 percent charged, even if the plug is plugged in, the power is automatically cut off and hence there is no burden of charging on the battery. Due to this, there is no risk of the battery getting damaged or overheating.
However, after talking about both these things, the experts ultimately advise that once the laptop battery is fully charged, it should be unplugged or at least the switch should be turned off.
These experts argue that, even though modern laptops automatically disconnect the power connection after charging, battery life can be extended if the plug is removed or the switch is turned off.
In short, experts say that, charge when needed and sometimes if you forget about it for a few hours after putting it in charging, do not turn it off but this should be avoided regularly. This means that you should keep charging when necessary and stop charging for some time once the battery is full or 80-90 percent charged. By doing this, not only the battery life increases but the life of the laptop also increases.
