Lucknow. Effective steps are continuously being taken to make the agriculture sector modern and technologically advanced in Uttar Pradesh. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state is now emerging as a new model of technology-based farming. The government is making extensive use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to modernize traditional farming. Due to this, agricultural production has increased and there has been a big improvement in the income of farmers. With the help of AI, remarkable success has been achieved in areas like scientific advice based on weather, soil and crop, pest control, irrigation management and market availability.

Increased yield through AI-powered smart farming

With the use of drones, smart irrigation systems and digital agriculture platforms linked to AI technology in the state, agricultural operations have become faster, more accurate and of better quality. Under the Digital Agriculture Mission, more than 300 agricultural experts, scientists and progressive farmers are promoting smart farming.

AI based pest and disease monitoring system has significantly reduced the damage caused to crops. This has helped in increasing the yield of maize from 29 quintals per hectare to 70 quintals per hectare. Rapid progress is also being made towards increasing the yield of paddy to more than 45 quintals per hectare. Uttar Pradesh is now fast moving towards joining the high productivity states.

AI plays a big role in increasing the income of farmers

With the partnership of World Bank and Google, Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in the country to adopt AI based agriculture and administrative system on a large scale. The system provides accurate digital advice to farmers based on weather, soil and crop in real time.

Platforms like e-NAM have provided easy access to markets to farmers, while benefits of services like loans, insurance and subsidies are also becoming increasingly available with the help of AI. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath aims to strengthen the rural economy by connecting every farmer with technology. The result of these efforts is that the goals of increasing the income of farmers now seem to be being achieved rapidly. AI-based agricultural transformation is not only taking Uttar Pradesh towards a new future, but is also becoming a role model for the entire country.
