News India Live, Digital Desk: Today (22 November) is a big day in the politics of Uttar Pradesh and the history of the country. This is a day to remember the personality whom you and I lovingly called ‘Netaji’. Yes, today is the birth anniversary of Mulayam Singh Yadav. Even though he is not among us today, his ideology and the love of the workers show that the ‘Son of the Earth’ is still alive in the hearts. Today, on this occasion, he is being remembered all over the country, but the way SP workers celebrated their leader’s birthday in Meerut, Western UP, has won everyone’s heart. There was no big celebration or show off here, rather there was a feeling of ‘seva’. The day started with Havan. There was a gathering of workers at the Samajwadi Party (SP) office and many other places in Meerut since this morning. The day started with Vedic mantras and Havan Pujan. Leaders and workers offered sacrifices in the Havan Kund and prayed for the peace of Netaji’s soul and vowed to follow the path shown by him. The atmosphere was completely devotional and respectful. Original Tribute: Blood Donation Mahadaan But the most beautiful sight was seen when after the Havan, the youth decided to save the lives of others instead of cutting the cake. On the special occasion of Netaji’s birthday, a huge blood donation camp was organized. It is said that Mulayam Singh Yadav always stood to help the poor and needy. Taking this thinking forward, SP workers of Meerut paid ‘true tribute’ to their leader by donating their blood. He said that – “Netaji has taught us that politics does not just mean power but also service to the society. And there can be no greater service than giving a new life to a patient.” Sweets were also distributed and slogans were raised. After donating blood, prasad and sweets were distributed among the people. During this, the entire area echoed with the slogans of “Mulayam Singh Yadav remain immortal”. While the old people narrated anecdotes to Netaji, the new workers enthusiastically pledged to strengthen the party. To be honest, this way of celebrating birthday teaches us that we can keep our great men alive not just in statues but in good deeds. Salute to this spirit of the people of Meerut
