There is going to be a big public holiday in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Chandigarh on 25 November 2025 (Tuesday). A holiday has been declared at all three places on the occasion of the martyrdom day of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. That means, government offices, schools-colleges, banks and many private institutions will also remain closed on this day. Good news for everyone from children to working people!
Chandigarh administration has made it clear that on November 25, all government offices, boards, corporations, institutions and even industrial establishments under their control will remain closed. The entire city will observe a holiday in memory of the martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta surprised everyone by posting on social media platform He wrote, “On the sacred occasion of 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji, Delhi Government has declared 25th November 2025 as a public holiday.” CM further wrote that Guru Sahib’s message of courage, compassion and religious freedom will always inspire us. All schools, colleges and government offices of Delhi will remain closed on this day.
Earlier in UP, the government had declared holiday on Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day on 24th November, but now the date has been changed to 25th November. Principal Secretary (General Administration) Manish Chauhan issued the order and said that this amendment was made after discussions at the government level. Now there will be holiday in entire Uttar Pradesh only on 25th November. That means we got a long weekend on Tuesday instead of Monday!
So get ready, sit at home on 25th November and remember the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and spend quality time with your family. This holiday is not just a holiday, but a remembrance of a great sacrifice.
