Prescott Leads Cowboys to 24-21 Comeback Victory over Eagles/ TezzBuzz/ WASHINGTON/ J. Mansour/ Morning Edition/ Dak Prescott led a dramatic 24-21 comeback over the Eagles, overcoming a 21-point deficit. He broke Tony Romo’s franchise record for career passing yards and notched his 25th game-winning drive. Mistakes by both teams led to a thriller in Arlington, capped by a last-second field goal.
Dak Prescott orchestrated one of the most memorable comeback wins of his career Sunday night, leading the Dallas Cowboys from a 21-point deficit to a 24-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. With the win, Prescott not only pushed the Cowboys back into playoff contention but also etched his name further into franchise history by breaking Tony Romo’s all-time Dallas passing yards record.
Prescott completed 354 yards through the air, bringing his career total to 34,378 yards and surpassing Romo’s mark of 34,183. But the veteran quarterback wasn’t focused on personal milestones during the game.
And win they did.
After falling behind 21-0 early in the second quarter, the Cowboys clawed back, capitalizing on a series of Eagles mistakes. Philadelphia, previously undefeated when leading by three touchdowns since 1999, unraveled in the second half.
The game turned in Dallas’ favor as Prescott connected with George Pickens for a 9-yard gain to start the second half—an inconspicuous throw that turned historic by surpassing Romo’s record. Pickens was Prescott’s top target of the night, finishing with nine receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown.
While the Cowboys had early errors of their own—including two critical penalties and an end-zone interception thrown by Prescott—the Eagles were plagued by late-game breakdowns. Saquon Barkley lost his first fumble of the season, and Xavier Gipson’s muffed punt deep inside Philadelphia territory provided Dallas with golden opportunities to get back in the game.
Despite their position, Dallas had difficulty capitalizing. A failed red-zone possession at the 2-yard line left the game tied late in the fourth quarter. But the Cowboys’ defense held strong, with Osa Odighizuwa sacking Jalen Hurts on a crucial third down with under two minutes to play.
That stop set up a final Dallas drive. Prescott found Pickens again on a 24-yard connection, allowing the Cowboys to position rookie kicker Brandon Aubrey for a 42-yard field goal attempt as time expired. Aubrey drilled it, sealing an emotional win for Dallas at home.
Prescott’s performance also broke a tie with Romo for the most fourth-quarter or overtime comeback drives in Cowboys history. It was his 25th career game-winning drive under pressure.
The victory continued a dominant home run for Prescott against NFC East opponents. The Cowboys are now 19-0 at home against divisional rivals with Prescott at the helm.
The Eagles, now 8-3, remain atop the NFC East standings but are under renewed pressure. Their offense was electric early, with A.J. Brown collecting five receptions and a touchdown in the opening quarter. But he wasn’t targeted again until late in the game.
Hurts threw for one touchdown and ran for two more, but Philadelphia couldn’t establish the ground game. Barkley managed just 22 rushing yards on 10 attempts.
Meanwhile, CeeDee Lamb helped spark the comeback with a 48-yard catch to set up a touchdown by Brevyn Spann-Ford. Later, Prescott scrambled left and dove into the end zone for the tying score early in the fourth quarter.
Beyond the comeback and records, the night was also filled with emotion due to the recent passing of Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland. Osa Odighizuwa, who shared a locker room with Kneeland, carried a flag bearing his name and number (94) onto the field during the pregame introductions. A tribute video and moment of silence honored Kneeland’s legacy.
Injuries from the game included Eagles cornerback Adoree’ Jacksonwho was evaluated for a concussion, and safety Reed Blankenship with a thigh injury. For the Cowboys, left tackle Tyler Guyton suffered an ankle injury.
Up next, the Eagles will host the Chicago Bears on Friday, while the Cowboys prepare for their annual Thanksgiving Day clash, this year against the Kansas City Chiefs.
