Veteran actor Suhasini Mulay , who appears alongside Bollywood legend Dharmendra in his final film 'Ikkis', has shared poignant memories of his extraordinary humility and warmth.

Reflecting on a scene from the movie, she said in an interview, “Even though he was old and ailing, he hadn’t lost his sense of timing at all.”

She fondly recollected one moment, saying, “He was very chivalrous. The first time that we met, he got up with some difficulty and offered me his chair. I told him to sit and that I would ask for another chair. But he told me, ‘Aap baithengi, tabhi main baithunga, nahi toh main kaise baith sakta hoon?’”

Talking to News 18, she also revealed a lighter yet telling anecdote, "We were staying at a five-star hotel … He told the director that he wanted to eat a parantha but wasn’t allowed to have it. I told him that I just had a parantha. He told me, ‘Arrey, bol na tha. Mere liye aap smuggle kar leti ek do. Paranthe khaane chahiye – ghee daalke dahi ke saath khaane chahiye.’ We had a good laugh over it."

Suhasini’s admiration extends beyond his on-screen persona. She said, “He was such a huge star but he didn’t let anybody feel it at all. People would come and take photographs with him. He couldn’t stand up. But they would sit with him and click pictures. He never shooed anybody away.”

An era ends with a legend’s farewell

The passing of Dharmendra at the age of 89 has left the film industry and fans worldwide in mourning. He was known for his charismatic presence, iconic roles, and the affectionate title of “He-Man” of Bollywood. His upcoming movie is 'Ikkis', which is directed by Sriram Raghavan.
