As Americans are firing up their ovens to prepare Thanksgiving turkeys and searching for holiday recipes, an unusual topic is simultaneously dominating their searches: Costco recalls . Yes, that’s right. Why the buzz? The warehouse giant has recalled several consumer products amidst the busiest shopping season of the year. This has left shoppers scrambling to check their pantries and freezers while planning their holiday feasts.

What should you know about Costco food recalls?

Costco has recalled two of its popular pre-packaged foods. On Nov. 2, the retailer and its food supplier, Venture Foods, issued a notice to customers warning about possible plastic contamination in two of its popular ready-to-eat foods: Caesar Salad (Item# 19927) and Chicken Sandwich with Caesar Salad (Item# 11444), due to the possible presence of ‘plastic foreign material’ in the salad dressings. The affected products are labelled with ‘sell by’ dates between Oct. 17 and Nov. 9. “Please stop eating the product and return the item to your local Costco for a full refund,” the retailer said in the .

Costco wine recall

The food recall comes days after the retailer recalled nearly one million bottles of its sparkling wine. On Nov. 6, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that Costco recalled 941,400 units of its Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG bottles due to ‘a risk of unopened bottles shattering’. “The Prosecco bottles can break or shatter, posing a laceration hazard,” they said in a recall announcement. The recall was initiated after the wine distributor received ten reports of the bottles shattering or breaking, resulting in one laceration injury. The Universal Product Code (UPC) of the affected Prosecco bottles is 196633883742, and the Costco Item Number is 1879870. Shoppers who may still have the product in their possession were asked to stop using it immediately and discard the bottles in their household rubbish. “You are entitled to a full refund of the purchase price upon returning this letter to your nearest Costco location and/or verification of your purchase at your nearest Costco location. The bottles should not be returned to Costco,” the retailer told shoppers in a . The wine was sold between April 25 and Aug. 26, 2025, in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Other recall

Earlier in September, Costco recalled its Kirkland brand Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke due to potential contamination with listeria from green onions. The items have a sell-by date of Sept. 22, and 3,314.7 pounds of the products were affected. Listeria infection can lead to serious and sometimes fatal illness, especially in children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. “Although healthy persons may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhoea, L. monocytogenes infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women,” the FDA said.

So, for the average Costco shopper, these recalls mean disrupted plans. A family-sized salad for potlucks? Toss it. Bubbly for brunches? Refund and replace. No wonder people are busy searching for Costco recalls amidst Thanksgiving preparations.
