News India Live, Digital Desk: We all stand in front of the mirror several times a day to see our appearance. If even a small pimple appears on the face, we get worried. But do you know that our eyes are not only a part of beauty but also a mirror of health? Especially, there is a very important part of our body – Kidney. It does its work silently, but when it is sick or about to deteriorate, it gives some signals by screaming. Sadly, these signs first appear in our eyes, and we ignore them by considering them as “fatigue” or “lack of sleep”. Let us understand in simple language what are those eye signs, seeing which you should immediately run to the doctor. 1. Stubborn swelling under the eyes (Puffy Eyes) Are you getting enough sleep, yet as soon as you wake up in the morning, you see heavy bags hanging under the eyes? This is not normal. Reason: When the kidney does not function properly, it is not able to stop the protein from the body and this protein starts coming out through urine. Due to lack of protein in the body, water starts collecting around the eyes, which is called ‘Periorbital Edema’ in medical language. Caution: If the swelling persists throughout the day and swelling is also seen in the legs, then it is the biggest sign of kidney damage. 2. Redness of eyes or blurry vision: If your eyes often remain red without any reason or you have started seeing things blurry, then it cannot be just weakness. Reason: Kidney disease is often caused by high blood pressure and diabetes. Both these diseases damage the small nerves of the eyes. When the kidneys are unable to clean the blood, toxins (dirt) increase in the body, which affects the retina of the eyes.3. Yellowing of the white part of the eyes is not only a symptom of jaundice or liver damage, but it can also be to the kidneys. Reason: Kidneys and liver work like friends. When the kidneys are unable to clean the blood, the bilirubin level gets disturbed, due to which the eyes may appear yellow.4. Dry Eyes: If you feel that something like sand is stinging in your eyes or they remain very dry, then this can also be a sign of increased urea. The problem of dry eye syndrome is often seen in kidney failure patients. Where does the mistake happen? The problem is that kidney disease is a “silent killer”. There is no pain until 70-80% damage occurs. People keep applying cosmetic creams considering eye swelling as “old age” or “fatigue”, while the disease is progressing inside. What to do? (Immediate Steps) There is no need to be afraid, just be cautious. If you have persistent symptoms mentioned above, then: Do not try home remedies. Get a KFT (Kidney Function Test) done immediately. This is a simple blood test. Drink adequate amount of water and eat less salt. Remember, every change in the body signals something. Understand the language of your eyes, before it’s too late. Health is the real wealth!
