ByteDance, the company that owns TikTok, is in talks to sell its gaming studio Moonton Technology. This update comes from Bloomberg, which spoke to people who know about the discussions.

Moonton is best known for creating the hit mobile game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. ByteDance bought the studio in 2021 for about four billion dollars. At that time, the company hoped to expand deeper into gaming. Now it is looking at selling Moonton again after putting those plans on hold earlier.

The talks are still ongoing and there is no guarantee the deal will actually happen.

This news comes at a time when ByteDance’s shares have been trading at a value of around four hundred eighty billion dollars. Last week, an investment firm called Capital Today bought a block of ByteDance shares. The price of those shares rose quickly during an auction with several bidders competing.

Savvy Games Group, the potential buyer, is backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. The group has been very active in gaming deals. Along with partners Silver Lake and Affinity Partners, it recently agreed to buy Electronic Arts for about fifty five billion dollars.
